Dear Congressman Quigley:

Congratulations on your recent victory in the special election for the 5th Congressional District of Illinois.

We are particularly pleased with this news, since, to our knowledge, you are the first Gay Games participant to serve in Congress. We look forward to seeing your Gay Games VII medal proudly displayed on Capitol Hill and thank you, in advance, for your efforts to promote sport and culture for all in the spirit of “Participation, Inclusion, and Personal Best”.

You may be aware that our Chicago-based Vice President of Membership, Paul Oostenbrug, volunteered for your campaign and many Gay Games participants were and are also strong supporters of your candidacy and election.

The next Gay Games are in Cologne from 31 July to 7 August 2010 (http://www.games-cologne.com/), and Ice Hockey is one of the 34 sports included in the program. We hope that you will be available to participate – please let us know if we can help you in any way.

The planning for the 2014 Gay Games is ongoing, with all three bidding cities located in America - Boston, Cleveland, and Washington, D.C. We are happy to say that Ice Hockey is included in all three proposals. (The selection of the GGIX 2014 Gay Games Host will take place on 27 September 2009 in Cologne.)

We wish you good luck in your new position, and thank you for your continued support of the Gay Games.

With kind regards,

Emy Ritt and Kurt Dahl (Chicago resident)
