Federation of Gay Games Annual Meeting opens with preparatory board meeting

The Federation of Gay Games 2009 Annual Meeting opens tomorrow in Cologne, Germany, host of Gay Games VIII from 31 July to 7 August 2010. To make final plans for the week's activities, the FGG Board of Directors met Saturday morning. During this session, they took time to meet with the Games Cologne steering committee, which provided impressive updates on key issues, including marketing, sports planning, and volunteer recruitment and management.

The Board as elected at the last Annual Meeting in 2008 in Cape Town, South Africa, is made up of 18 members from four continents. As such, most of its operations take place by means of email, teleconferences, and a dedicated intranet system. The Annual Meeting is thus an important opportunity for face-to-face communication and team building.
