Federation of Gay Games extends wishes for success to International Olympic Committee for 2016 Summer Olympics selection

Dr. Jacques Rogge
President
International Olympic Committee
Route de Vidy 9
CH-1007 Lausanne
SWITZERLAND

1 October 2009

Dear Dr. Rogge:

We are pleased to be writing to you from Cologne, the city which will host Gay Games VIII next summer, and where our international sports federation has just selected the host city for Gay Games IX, which will take place in Cleveland, Ohio USA in 2014.

We faced a very difficult choice, with very high level bids from Boston, Cleveland and Washington. We sympathise with you as you prepare to make a choice with even higher stakes.

Like you, we know that the choice of a host city for our events is by far the most difficult decision we make. We ask you to pass on to the members of the IOC who will be choosing the host of the XXXIst Olympic Games our best wishes, while expressing our faith that you will make a choice worthy of the Olympic values we share.

We thank you for your work and for that of the IOC, and wish you the best of luck in Copenhagen!

Sincerely,

Kurt Dahl and Emy Ritt

Note that the first version of tbis post stated that the Olympics would be taking place in 2018. They of course are scheduled for 2016. It's the Gay Games that will take place in 2018...
